One of my usual rantings

I start work at 7.30 am till 9.30 am for a part time work at uni, then I continued work (accounting related) on this temporary job at city until 5.30pm into 2 weeks. So far so good. Most of the time will be glued to the chair and laptop unless I go for lunch break, and to the loo. Working in the corporate sector is quite sedentary, thus exercise is essential to balance it out. So I go for dancing after that at night. :) Makes me motivated at work so I know I have something to look forward to after that to relax and unwind. My dancing had improved tremendously, and am truly grateful for the opportunities God had, has and will always provide for me. I used to go panting and gasping for air after one proper dance or after 1 round of Viennese Waltz(when you have technique and 1001 things to think about, it requires huge amount of physical and mental energy). Now, I dare say I can dance for 3hours non stop (except for drinking water breaks) properly, the competitive style manner which can be highly intensive but I find it rewarding and enjoyable. Maybe I do still need to work on Viennese Waltz, quite common to get dizzy after more than 1 full round of a basketball indoor court. My stamina and strength has improved markedly this year, I don't exercise, dancing makes exercise enjoyable until I don't think of it as an exercise anymore. Used to dread the idea of dancing on heels and making it look strong is a huge task, finally managed to overcome it slowly, most things managed to be solved in ballroom /latin dancing when one has greater physical strength. This takes time to build, but I know I am on the right track. Compression and collection point is very important for every single step to create power and attack. Yet we have to make it look easy and effortless by being calm. It is essential to be independent, not to overly rely on your partner, at the same time being alert as a lady (follower) as the man (leader) is leading you. Now I also realized the ever importance of basics, once you get it right (solid foundation) is easier to take off and "fly" from there though the beginning process may be daunting and time consuming. I am glad I took that route. Many will ignore or simply do not have the patience or discipline to do that. Most people were astonished with my progress (as I don't dance that regularly, yet I am improving rapidly), but I attribute this to my teachers' way of thinking (do it right first). That was also music (Ms Chua) and ballet (Ms Tan) teachers' way of thinking too. They too influenced the way I train and practice.
