City of Sails =)
Hi everyone. This is my 1st blog post from Auckland NZ. =) Here's some experience I would luv to share wt.
17 Feb 9 pm: Bade farewell to my family members and boarded the plane. Economy class. It was packed. Luckily I had the chance to sit wt angeline and miriana, both my coursemates.
18 Feb :Reach auckland airport at 12.20 noon.Wow...the view from the plane was wonderful! Well...landed safely but there were some technical problems which left us stranded in the plane for 15 minutes. The flight overall was okay but we were told to tighten the seat belts quite many times due to the adversity of weather.
Airport was small. Due to peak hour on lunch time, it took me 2 hrs just to check out. I spent time admiring the cute small sniffer police dogs at the airport.:P Auckland uni accom representative ,jpa seniors were there.En Abdullah the jpa nz rep office too was there.
Arrived at ororke hall at 4pm
Evening. Had a small gathering wt the officer.Pn siti and Cik Nureen was there too.Seniors were there too.Had dinner there.
Night: Packed my luggage. Room is extremely small.
19 feb: Spent my day exploring the city.Sat the free shuttle bus in the city from Queen Street.Went to Warehouse(good prices) and bought essential stuffs. Was pretty fun as the weather was cooling and windy but dry.
20 feb: start my orientation.Missed the maori cultural activities as we were lack of time. We went to the bank to settle our stuffs. And is like phew...20 jpa students swarming the tiny bank
Missed lunch at hall and ate noodles instead. It costs $7.50!! But it's huge the bowl and I shared wt shu ping.:-)
Went to Queen street again and also clock tower.Bought vodafone prepaid handphone card.Yes i can use my hp now.:-) Went to ain's room at Number 14 apartments. Wow...it's so far and so much walking to do. Uphill.
Overall, it's good the environment here. There are similarities to my hometown Malacca.Still finding time to adjust to life here. There's so many Europeans here although many ppl often said that there are many asians here.Jenna my floor rep was very kind and nice.My housemate is a MARA student, and luckily I enrolled for non alchohol and single sex pod. Here the culture is different and they luv to drink.
